250 Watts with a high performance well installed antenna is a typical set up for a local radio station for a big town or small city. In rural areas up to 40 miles range is possible. We've sold 100s of these over the last 20 years and we never see them returned they just keep going without need for repairs.
Our amplifiers have a uniform input requirement of 1W. In other words, when driven with 1W of power, this amplifier is capable of producing 250W of RF output continuously, while still adhering to global technical regulations.
If you require a different input power level, no problem, we can do that easily. Just email or message us in the box below for more details.
This unit is designed with high reliability in mind. The cooling system incorporates one front 80mm fan to force cool the RF heatsinks and two 60 mm fans extracting from them. There is an additional 60mm fan to cool the power supplies. The amplifier is cool to touch by hand, even when we tested it in Spain, in summer, outside at ambient temperatures in excess of 40C. To maintain long term reliability the power amplifiers are fitted with two 150 watt Mosfets. This gives generous power headroom and the capability of Non-Stop high reliability operation anywhere in the world.
Under severe load mismatch conditions (poor SWR, Return Loss) the unit automatically folds back the power to a safe level to protect itself, the antenna and cables from damage. When the load becomes again, full power restores automatically and instantly. The front panel has a forward and reflected power meter, so you can monitor the state of your antenna all the time.
Regardless of high temperature, high VSWR poor antenna and mismatch conditions or poor AC power, the power level of 250W will remain stable all the time and the RF signal will never pollute the spectrum with instabilities. The output amplifier in this unit is designed to work in hostile conditions and environments. The BBC, British Army and US Army Delta Company all purchased these units for use in Iraq and Afghanistan.
All AC version of this product is truly globally compatible, you can plug it into any AC outlet in the world from 90 to 260V at 50 or 60Hz
The regular version of this unit is 90 to 260V AC. However we can also manufacture it for 12V or 48V DC. To the best of our knowledge, in the entire world, Only We Make 12V DC FM Broadcasting Transmitters and Amplifiers up to RF Power Outputs of 250W.
Applications include mobile setups where only a car or vehicle battery is available. We have a perfect Magnetic Mount FM Antenna for mobile setups. Also fixed installations with connection to solar battery systems of 12V and 48V DC
We default ship the AC version. If you want the 12 or 48V DC version, it's important you notify us by email when you make your order.
The model will work with our 50 ohm antennas listed below:
Vertical 5/8 Wave
2 Way Stacked Dipole
4 Way Stacked Dipole
8 Way Stacked Dipole
Circular Dipole
Folded Dipole
This amplifier complies with EMC, Voltage Safety and RTTE Harmonised Standards laid down by the European Union. It's CE marked with a Declaration of Conformity. More information HERE
All stated measurements were made at 220VAC at 27 Degrees Celsius ambient temperature unless stated.
