On open rural land with good antenna height you can expect 50kW EIRP to reach 185km and maybe a little more. 50kW EIRP is a formidable power and is suitable for regional broadcasting as opposed to local broadcasting. This power level is also useful in densely urbanised cities where there are tall buildings, a lot of steel and concrete. In extreme cases in some directions we have had customers report signals up to 240km with this power level. Transmission distance is always the most difficult question we have to answer. For more accurate predictions we can make plots based on GPS coordinates, antenna height and radiated power like these HERE
To achieve 50kW EIRP only 4kW of transmitter power is needed if the correct antenna is installed with high grade coaxial cable. The 4kW of transmitter power comes from 4 separate 1kW amplifiers that are driven by a distribution amplifier and Veronica® 1W PLL driver. All our big systems above 10kW EIRP are configured this way using more than just a single 1kW amplifier. Due to this a complete shutdown or signal failure can only occur if the 4 amplifiers (1kW each) go down at exactly the same time, this is nearly impossible with super high odds. So if you need system reliability and a station on air, always, with no breakdowns, 4 or more if possible, 1kW amplifiers are perfect.
The 100KW, 50kW, 25kW, 12.5kW and 10kW all use this same 8 way folded dipole broadband antenna. The simple reason is, because it's simply amazing. It has high bandwidth with an SWR or less then 1.2 from 87.5 to 108 MHz, most dummy test loads struggle to manage this. Many coaxial cable lengths, especially the cheap Chinese rubbish struggles to maintains less than 1.2. So this is the reason this antenna is gold, metaphorically speaking, made out of aluminum and stainless steel. I forget to mention, it does not rot or corrode even in coastal areas. But most important, it MAGNIFIES the signal radiating to the horizon by over 15 times !!!
If you want to see your station name and more scrolling across the car radio display add the RDS Option, 'Add To Cart' rds-upgrade in the price panel.
This RDS Option is not just ordinary RDS, it is fully programmable dynamic RDS. This means the transmitter can be connected to a PC by a USB cable. The transmitters RDS circuit will pick the Artist and Song name from any folder on the PC disk drive. This folder is easy to set up in the DJ playout software, like Zara Studio etc. Detailed information HERE.

The 40mt of LMR600 cable supplied with this system is robust yet flexible making installation much easier. If you prefer the more rigid type, that's okay, just let us know and we will change the system to that. LMR600 has a very high specification with just over a fraction of 1dB loss for 40mt at 100MHz. In addition, if 40mt is not sufficient in length, just let us know and for a small additional cost we will quote for the extra length.
This graph is based on average customer reports in some directions. Basically this shows the typical ranges really ever recorded. Most of the reports were radio station listeners that phoned, texted, WhatsApp etc. into the radio station programs operated by our customers. Range is very difficult to predict as there are many factors that effect it. More info on FM Transmission Range
The FM signal starts in the internal Veronica PLL which produces the super low noise and highly stable FM signal. You can find more info on this at in our 1W Exciter (PLL driver). Then the internal stereo coder and audio processor boards provide a loud and crisp audio signal on the listeners radio. If your more of an expert, you can if you want use an external processor such as Orban, Inovonics or PC generated MPX/RDS, the limiter and stereo coder we supply can be completely disabled.
European Union
We hereby declare that this equipment complies with;
• ETS 300384 European Telecommunications Harmonised Standard when used with an audio compressor limiter supplied and tested by Aareff
• EN 301489-11 V1.3.1 (2006-05) EMC Electromagnetic Compatibility when used with 1 meter AC mains cord supplied. If the installation engineer needs to extend this cord, this and the audio input cable should be no more than 3 meters in length to remain in compliance with EMC directive.
• 2006/95/EC Directive (2006-12) LVD Low Voltage Directive.
Equipment compliance is possible using equipment from and in conjunction from other manufacturers, but since this is beyond the control of Aareff Systems, Aareff Systems cannot or be expected to guarantee compliance in this situation.
